Your permission to let go of the 'perfect' wedding and choose authentic wedding moments instead!

We’ve all seen those Pinterest-perfect weddings—the ones with lavish florals, grand venues, and lighting setups straight out of a fairytale/studio. And while they’re undeniably stunning, they’re not everyone’s reality (and they don’t have to be!).

Here’s the truth: Your wedding is YOUR wedding. It’s beautiful because it’s a reflection of you, your partner, and your story. And it makes me sad when I'm hearing from couple's who feel all this pressure to be something they are not!

The Pinterest Trap: Why Not All Weddings Look Like That...

These photos were from a styled shoot and we had 10 minutes just styling the cake cut. Plus this was shot in broad daylight opposed to right at the end of the night like most cake cuttings.

A lot of couples get caught in what I call the Pinterest trap. Many of the photos you see on Pinterest or Instagram aren’t even from real weddings—they’re from styled shoots or photography workshops.

These shoots are carefully planned, often with:

  • Unlimited time for perfect lighting.

  • Gorgeous setups from professional designers.

  • No real-life chaos or tight timelines.

While these images are breathtaking, they’re often not achievable within the natural flow of a real wedding day. And you know what? That’s okay!

Your wedding is real, beautifully imperfect, and uniquely yours. That’s what makes it magical.

My role isn’t to transform your wedding into something it’s not. My job is to capture it authentically, just as it is.

Your choices, the venue, the flowers, the lighting—everything you’ve thoughtfully planned shapes your wedding photos. My focus is on the real moments:

  • The joy in your partner’s eyes as you walk down the aisle.

  • The laughter from inside jokes with your bridal party.

  • The quiet, intimate moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

These are the memories that matter, and they’re what I’ll capture.

Your Wedding Is Your Story—Not Someone Else’s choose authentic wedding moments instead!

It’s easy to scroll through wedding blogs and think, I want my day to look like that and I 100% think there's value in that but do that to your means. In YOUR style.

You have to remember that:

  1. Many of those photos come from controlled environments, not real weddings.

  2. A lot of “perfectly curated” weddings are the result of big budgets, meticulous planning, and often, a lot of stress.

  3. Comparing your wedding to someone else’s only takes away from the beauty of YOUR day.

What truly matters is this:

  • The people you love gathered together in one place.

  • The candid, joyful moments with friends and family.

  • The way you and your partner look at each other as the day unfolds.

These are the moments you’ll cherish forever.

Let Go of the Pressure to Be Perfect!

The wedding industry often sells this idea that everything has to be flawless—and i personally find value in the opposite. I love unruly kids, unscripted funny moments and big ugly 'I'm so glad I'm here to witness this' tears.

Your day is already perfect because it’s yours. Whether it’s a backyard gathering, a paddock bash or a small ceremony at a local hall or a boujie affair at a boujie locash, it’s the love and connection that matter most.

As your photographer, I don’t expect perfection. I expect authenticity. I expect joy, connection, and real, unscripted moments that show the heart of your story. At my last wedding I cried all the way through the ceremony because my couple's love just shone out of their faces it it was SO stunning to just be in their presence.

Just Be Present, Be You

At the end of the day, your wedding is about one thing: the commitment you’re making to your partner, and celebrating that with your loved ones.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the pressure to create a “Pinterest-perfect” wedding, let it go. Embrace the day as it unfolds. Be present with your loved ones, laugh, cry, and soak it all in and I'll make sure to capture the memories for you to look back on forever.

Your Wedding Photos Will Be Perfect, Just As They Are

Forget staged moments and unrealistic expectations. Your wedding is a celebration of your love story, and that’s what matters most. Whether it’s in Horowhenua, Kapiti Coast, Wellington, or anywhere in the Lower North Island, I’m here to capture it authentically.

Let’s tell your story—raw, real, and beautifully yours.
