Hey friends! I get a lot of questions before my shoots about what it's like to step in front of my camera, and whatver your thinking - you’re not alone. Maybe you’re a little camera-shy, maybe you’re worried about the kids sitting still, or maybe you’re wondering if your wedding day will run smoothly while I’m snapping away.
Instead of me telling you, I thought I’d let my wonderful clients do the talking. I’ve gathered little snippets from the incredible people I’ve photographed to give you an honest, behind-the-scenes peek at what the experience is really like.

“But I’m so awkward in front of the camera—what if I don’t know how to pose?”
You are not alone! This is the number one thing people tell me before we start. Here’s what my beautiful client Arwen said:
“I’m not a naturally gifted person in front of the camera, but Helen made the experience lots of fun and the photos turned out wonderful. You very quickly feel comfortable and relaxed in her presence and it shows through the images.”
And lovely Calista shared:
“Her friendly approach instantly put everyone at ease, making even those who don't normally enjoy being in front of the camera feel comfortable and relaxed.”
I reckon the magic happens when you’re just being yourself, and I’m there to gently guide you while you soak it all in.

“Will you tell us what to do, or will we just stand around awkwardly?”
Honestly, it’s a mix of both, naturally when you first arrive you might be nervous but that dissapears so fast!
My priority is to put people at ease and years in the hospitality industry and a serious love of humans helps wth that. The best photos often come from those in-between moments. Ashlee summed it up beautifully:
“Helen took charge and made the entire process fun and stress-free.”
And this gem from Megan:
“She really went above and beyond to capture our day as perfectly as possible. She made my husband and I feel so relaxed and at ease in front of the camera.”
I’ll give you gentle direction, but we capture a lot of realness, the giggles, the glances, the way you naturally hold each other. That’s where the story lives.

“How will you fit into our wedding day or family session?”
I promise I won’t be in your face with a big lens shouting instructions. I blend right in.
Megan shared:
“I also got so many comments from our guests about how efficient she was and how she just blended into the party.”
And Chelsea said:
“Helen makes us so relaxed and baby girl loves her time in the studio smiling away.”
I’m there to capture you as you are—no pressure, no stiff posing, just you being you.

“Will you really capture us?”
The biggest joy in my work is telling your story in a way that feels real. Kristy put it perfectly:
“Our photos aren’t just gorgeous, they are us through and through. We will cherish these photos forever.”
And I absolutely loved what Olivia shared:
“We are thrilled with the beautiful and poignant photos she took of our day and would (and do) highly recommend her services.”
Your photos should feel like home—like you’re looking at your life, your people, your laughter.

“Will this feel special, or just like another photo shoot?”
Every session, every wedding, every family is unique to me. I’m there to celebrate your story.
Amy said it best:
“Helen’s energy and passion for creative expression is infectious! She wanted to make sure it was a special experience that captured all that I, and my business, was about.”
And Sarah’s words made my heart sing:
“She made our wedding day and the photos we will cherish forever.”
Oh my goodness, that’s the whole point—to create something you’ll treasure, that freezes a moment in time.

“What if my kids (or pets!) don’t cooperate?”
Kate’s family session was a beautiful reminder that we just roll with it:
“Helen was great to deal with and took fantastic shots of our family including the babies and dogs! Very happy with end results.”
Fran also shared:
“She did well, getting great shots of 5 kids and the result was perfect!”
Honestly? Chaos is welcome here. Sometimes the best photos come from the beautifully unscripted moments.
Final Thoughts: It’s Not Just About the Photos
It’s about the laughs, the quiet moments, the little details that make your story yours. As Kristy once said:
“We never would have thought about going to a market garden and getting ice cream for photos, but we did, thanks to Helen’s suggestion, and it was perfect.”

Let’s create something that feels like you. Let’s capture your real, your messy, your magic.
